Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
In this first version, FocusTake records, edits, and exports WebM entirely on your device. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the Chrome extension and this website actually process.
01Summary
FocusTake records a selected browser tab, generates auto zoom and a smooth cursor, lets you edit locally, and exports a WebM file on your machine.
The recording and the exported video are created and held on your device. The first version does not upload your recordings to a server, and it does not require an account or sign-in to record or export.
02What the extension processes
To record a demo, FocusTake captures the selected tab and the interaction events you generate while recording: cursor movement, clicks, typing activity, scrolling, selection, and URL changes. These signals drive auto zoom and the smooth cursor.
- Tab capture and optional tab audio for the source you choose.
- Interaction events used to generate zoom and cursor motion.
- Your editor settings (background, layout, cursor, motion, zoom, export options) stored locally.
03Chrome permissions
FocusTake requests the Chrome permissions it needs to record the selected tab and to run its own extension pages, such as the editor. Permissions are used for the recording and editing workflow, not to monitor your general browsing.
04Local Pro license
In the first version, Pro validation is handled locally. Unlocking Pro affects export limits (watermark, resolution, length, bitrate) and does not change how your recordings are processed.
05Analytics and diagnostics
We avoid overstating our data practices. The first version is built around local processing. If we later add analytics, crash reporting, or any backend behavior, we will update this policy and describe what is collected and why before enabling it.
06Data retention and control
Your recordings, edits, and exported WebM files live on your device and stay under your control. You can delete them through your operating system like any other file.
07This website
This marketing site may use standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic. It is separate from the extension and does not have access to your recordings.
08Changes to this policy
As FocusTake adds features such as cloud or backend functionality, this policy will be updated. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
