Start here
Install the extension
Add FocusTake from the Chrome Web Store, pin it to your toolbar, and open it to start a recording.
Record your first take
Choose Browser Tab as the source, optionally enable tab audio, then run through your product once.
Edit and export
Adjust background, layout, cursor, motion, and zoom in the local editor, then export WebM, MP4, or GIF on your machine.
Troubleshooting
The recording didn't start
Make sure FocusTake has permission to capture the tab, reload the tab, and try selecting Browser Tab again. If a prompt appears, choose the tab you want and confirm sharing.
Auto zoom feels off
Auto zoom is generated from clicks, typing, and scrolls. Open the editor to move, add, or remove individual zoom moments until the focus matches your walkthrough.
The cursor looks jumpy
Enable or increase the smooth cursor setting in the editor. Very fast pointer movements may still show motion — slow down slightly during key steps.
Export failed or looks low quality
Resolution, length, and bitrate are set in the editor's export options and are available on Free. If quality looks low, raise those settings and export again. Free adds a watermark; a local Pro license removes it.
Can I record the whole screen?
Yes — you can record the entire screen or an application window as a plain recording. FocusTake is browser-tab–first, so the enhancements (auto zoom, event capture, smooth cursor, and the camera overlay) apply to Browser Tab recordings.
