Terms of Service

Last updated: July 30, 2026

FocusTake is a local-first Chrome extension. Some Browser Tab features require access to matching webpages; the Privacy Policy explains when extension code is present, when interaction capture is active, and what stays on your device.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the FocusTake Chrome extension, focustake.dev, accounts, purchases, and license services. By installing, accessing, or using FocusTake, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

01Using FocusTake

FocusTake records browser tabs, screens, and application windows that you select through Chrome, then provides local editing and media export. Eligible Browser Tab recordings can add auto zoom, cursor smoothing, optional tab audio, and an optional camera overlay.

You may use FocusTake to create demos for personal and commercial projects, subject to these terms and applicable law.

02Chrome permissions and updates

Browser Tab enhancement requires FocusTake to run a statically registered content script on matching webpages and to request access to all URLs. When you are not recording, the script remains idle and does not install the interaction-capture listeners used during a recording. The Privacy Policy describes this behavior in detail.

Chrome may ask you to approve permissions when you install FocusTake or when an update adds a permission that produces a warning. You may decline or remove the extension, but the current version or affected features may then be unavailable. We will use requested permissions only to provide, secure, and support FocusTake as described in these terms and the Privacy Policy.

03Free and Pro license

The Free tier includes the features described on the website and may apply a FocusTake watermark to exports. A paid Pro license unlocks the Pro features described at checkout, such as watermark removal, subject to the stated device limit.

Pro is currently offered as a one-time license, not a subscription. Your purchase gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the applicable Pro features; it does not transfer ownership of FocusTake or its software. A 'lifetime' offer refers to the supported lifetime of the FocusTake product and does not guarantee perpetual availability or compatibility with every future browser or operating-system change.

Keep your license key secure and do not sell, publish, share, or use it beyond its device limit. Gift licenses may be given to their intended recipient, who becomes responsible for using the license under these terms.

04Accounts

Recording and exporting do not require an account. To buy and manage a Pro license, you sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google account and license key secure, for activity under your FocusTake account, and for providing accurate information.

License verification uses a persistent random device identifier and a browser-derived device label to enforce the purchased device limit. Clearing extension data or reinstalling can generate a new identifier and may require a device reset. Purchased-license device bindings can be reset from the dashboard; gift-license resets may require support.

We may suspend or close an account or revoke a license if you materially breach these terms, misuse the product, commit fraud, or attempt to evade license limits. You may ask us to close your account at any time.

05Payment and refunds

Pro purchases are one-time payments processed by Stripe. Before payment, we show the price and applicable plan details. By purchasing, you authorize that charge and any taxes shown; FocusTake does not initiate recurring subscription charges for the current Pro offer.

Unless the checkout states otherwise or applicable law requires it, completed payments are non-refundable. This does not limit any mandatory cancellation, refund, or consumer rights that apply to you.

06Your content

You retain ownership of your recordings and exports. You are responsible for what you record, edit, export, and share. Only capture tabs, screens, windows, camera video, audio, people, and other content when you have the necessary rights and consents, and comply with applicable privacy, intellectual-property, employment, and recording laws.

FocusTake does not claim a license to your recording content because recording and editing are local. Limited technical processing of account, payment, license, and support data is covered by the Privacy Policy.

07Acceptable use

Do not use FocusTake to break the law; infringe privacy, intellectual-property, or other rights; capture content without required consent; distribute malware; interfere with FocusTake or third-party systems; attempt unauthorized access; evade license or device limits; or redistribute the extension as your own.

08Intellectual property

FocusTake, including the extension, website, software, design, and branding, remains the property of FocusTake and its licensors. Except for the limited right to use the product under these terms, no right, title, or interest is transferred to you.

You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass technical protections, or create derivative works from FocusTake except where applicable law expressly permits an activity that cannot be restricted by contract.

09Third-party services and availability

FocusTake depends on services and platforms that we do not control, including Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, Google sign-in, Stripe, and your device's media capabilities. Their terms and privacy practices may also apply. Browser, platform, or security changes can affect features or compatibility.

We may improve, change, suspend, or discontinue features. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of a material reduction to paid features, but we do not promise that every feature or integration will remain available indefinitely.

10Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FocusTake is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Recording and export can fail because of browser limits, device resources, permissions, site behavior, or other factors. You are responsible for checking important recordings and keeping appropriate copies of completed exports. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

11Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FocusTake and its operators, affiliates, and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, recordings, exports, revenue, profits, or business opportunities arising from or related to the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims related to FocusTake will not exceed the amount you paid for the Pro license giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited, including mandatory consumer protections.

12Termination

You may stop using FocusTake at any time and may ask us to close your account. Removing the extension deletes extension-managed local data, but downloaded exports remain until you delete them through your operating system.

We may suspend account or license services for a material breach, fraud, security risk, legal requirement, or misuse. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to cure before termination. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and accrued payment obligations—remain in effect.

13Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as FocusTake evolves or legal and security requirements change. We will update the date above and, where practical, provide reasonable notice of material changes. Changes apply prospectively from their effective date. If you do not agree to revised terms, stop using FocusTake.
